Cerny’s Journey Blog

Hi Again!

I am so excited to introduce Cernys’ Journeys to the world of travelers. I wanted to start our blog by giving you a little more background about me, Sara, and why I am so excited to go on this journey. While I am usually not a procrastinator, more like a fly by the seat of your pants type of girl, but it has taken me some time to get myself to the point of penning my experiences and tips. It had to be as I wanted to make sure I was able to really add value to those who were looking for information, tips, and advice. I know 100% I am ready, hence the creation of Cernys’ Journeys!

Before I met Collin, I did my fair share of traveling, so I had the bug and bad! When I started dating Collin it took me a bit of convincing to get him to on-board with my passion… Thankfully, it didn’t take but one trip, a 7-day Mexican Rivera Cruise. Since then we have been to 4 of the 7 continents, North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia and visited over 30 countries, 20 plus with the kids. Of course, we intend to hit all 7 and all 195 countries in our lifetime.

Once we started our family, travel became harder and we really considered taking a break from it till the kids were older. After very little thought, we decided, NOPE, not a chance! We want to show our kids the world and create a ton of memories with them. Our kids started joining us in our travels at 3 months of age. At that time, it was more domestic (USA) and since then has grown to international travel. The coolest thing I have found about traveling with our kids is that they see the people, places, cultures in such a different way than I do. It is not a bad thing, just a different perspective. I love when they ask me questions that provoke thought and discussion, many times after the trip.

Let me tell you though, traveling with kids is not all peas and carrots (sorry, I had to! Anytime I find a place to quote something I like I tend to, this time from Forrest Gump). I am hoping that along the way I will be able to give you some tips on how to make the not so good traveling with kids easier and better. I will tell you though it starts from before the trip is in the planning stages. They have to want to participate, so get them involved and get their minds curious. It makes a world of difference. Giving them tools to explore and a voice when discussing travel plans, allows them to make a personal connection, which equals ownership. I have found no matter how old a child is it is key to be able to enjoy travels.

As we get up and running full steam ahead, I am looking forward to sharing so much more about our personal adventures, lessons learned, travel tips and so much more.

Thank you for coming along on this journey with us!
